York School of Ministry
Equipping Christian Disciples for Ministry
We offer courses for personal interest, lay, licensed and ordained ministries that are Biblically based and mission-focused.
Our specific focus within the wider range of training opportunities offered by the diocese is to provide ministerial formation rooted in both sound theological learning and practical ministerial experience in local churches and mission contexts, so that people are equipped for ministry in the contemporary world.
Students studying with YSOM come from many different church traditions, social backgrounds and with a wide variety of academic and life experience and ability. This diversity of Christian experience makes for a stimulating learning environment where all, staff and students alike, can learn from each other.
"It’s no exaggeration for me to say how life changing it has been for me to attend the YSOM. I began at level 4 doubtful of my academic abilities, and worried I’d be found out! But the accessibility of the staff has been reassuring, and provision of great tutors has made the whole learning process far easier.
“Now I’m an RPA, others want to know more"
